Beginning February 13 at 6 a.m these agencies REINSTATE ENFORCEMENT of Seasonal Weight and Speed Restrictions:
Kent, Allegan, Barry,Ionia and Muskegon county road commissions and the cities of Kentwood and Walker.
Beginning Wednesday, February 1 at 6 a.m., the following local agencies will TEMPORARILY SUSPEND ENFORCEMENT of Seasonal Weight and Speed Restrictions until further notice: Kent, Barry, Ionia, Montcalm and Ottawa County Road Commissions and the cities of Kentwood and Walker. The temporary suspension of enforcement is based on the current forecast of decreasing temperatures and frost levels.
KCRC maintenance crews work hard to keep county and state roads drivable through the changing conditions of Michigan winters. The intensity, timing and duration of each winter event is different and response is adapted to address variables including type of precipitation, air and pavement temperature, traffic, wind, and time of day.
To promote enhanced safety during storm response and other road maintenance efforts, KCRC joins state, county and municipal transportation agencies throughout the state in installing green strobe lights on road maintenance vehicles.
The property was purchased as a potential relocation site for KCRC’s Central Complex, which resides along the Grand River and has been identified as an opportunity site for redevelopment under GR Forward.
